blog blurt

yeah, this isn't a real blog. i just wanted to say hello and how are ya' and put a picture up, for picture's sake. :) i have to get to bed and sleep, seeing as it's after midnight and i have a wedding in salem, oregon to shoot tomorrow. really looking forward to this one as i've never been to the location but from the looks of the website, it seems pretty magical! exciting. :) :)

i know it sounds cliche to say this, but the 4-day workweek this past week really threw me off. it just didn't feel like there were enough hours in the day to get everything done, sheesh! i'm not complaining about an extra day off, don't get me wrong- i was just hoppin' trying to tie loose ends and respond to folks and i feel as though i would probably get a C+ were i being graded- just this week. but, hey, you know. next week is fresh with no mistakes in it. i'm ready to hit it full force, as i'm gearing up to spend two weeks at the beginning of october in new york shooting 11 families and two weddings! so excited to see all those lovely people i know in the northeast.

this photo is from debra and dino's wedding about a month and a half ago, and i love it. these guys were rockstars in scoping out a location for their pre-ceremony shoot with just the two of them, and it was perfection. we got all kinds of great shots in and around this metal barn-shed! love the queen anne's lace that popped up everywhere. :)

well, i'm finally off to bed. hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

ander + cassie (wedding)

WHAT!? two blog posts in one week??? what is this world coming to!

must be a christmas miracle. :) :) just a few months early.

this past saturday, i shot this awesome, extremely portland-esque wedding in the northwest section of town. beforehand, the bride, groom, and i wandered around the pearl district to take a few shots of the two of them before the ceremony:

yeah. they're pretty much in love. it's awesome.

cassie and ander met during a random encounter at powell's books, after he noticed what she was reading and walked over to strike up a conversation. i always love hearing how people end up together almost against the odds- what if one of them had decided to stay home that day?! they may never had the opportunity to meet each other, ever again. throughout their relationship, they've done a bit of transitioning and are now both enrolled in graduate school programs in another state- this wedding was such a reunion/celebration for all their family and close friends!

the groom and his siblings:

their attention to detail was so personalized-

and the location and ceremony was exactly suited to them.

all in all, everyone seemed to have a great time. :)

congratulations, guys. your wedding was SO beautiful and it was my pleasure to be a part of this incredible day!

an early morning hello

good morning!

1:37am... yep, it's definitely technically morning. have i been to sleep yet? not for more than a 20 minute nap when i conked out on the couch while trying to watch a movie. darn you, second wind. darn you.

although! let's look the bright side. at least i'm blogging a bit here- yay! i'm continually amazed by you kind folk who tell me you read this space even though i've been absolutely less than consistent in my updates. i keep thinking it's going to be some kind of resolution of mine to updated this on a weekly or bi-weekly basis... maybe i'll start with weekly and work my way up once i master the basic level. :) if ever you come here looking for something new to read or something lovely to look at and i've once again been slacking, maybe you should check out jen loves kev. wonderful entries and pretty things... i'm not even that girly of a girl and this site somehow (magically) makes me want to learn how to shop. :) it's great, check it out.

now for a few random photos. i guess you'd like to see how i've been spending a bit of my time when i haven't been blogging, yes? well, a decent amount of my time has been spent with this guy:

he's ok.

:) :)

a few weekends ago we went camping with some good friends about an hour or so from the portland metro area, close to the clackamas river. the beauty found in the pacific northwest never fails to amaze me! gorgeous views, tall tall trees, and plenty of this:

ahhh, campfire. so delightful. maybe i'm a bit of a pyro? while camping... i just can't get enough fire. safely contained and handled, of course. :)

lastly, a picture of us making breakfast. well, obviously THEY were making breakfast. i was taking pictures. slacker. :)

i'm going to try the sleep thing again... until next time!

pros/cons

hello! it's after 2pm and i'm just now sitting down to work, but let me tell you about my weekend. let's make a list... because lists are wonderful and i'm hoping for some perspective here. :)

PROS:
- wow! just this morning i got back from a wonderful couple of days up north in tacoma and anderson island, wa. i met and shot this delightful family early on saturday morning:

isn't that little baby girl absolutely beautiful!?

- i feel completely refreshed after a few days away from the normal routine. yes, i was working for a bit of the long weekend. however... it was perfect. i have a lot of editing to come back to and i'm 110% ready to take it on. great people, good food, meaningful conversations, and being with someone i love. all in all, a really great time.

- ferryboats! i've loved them but never ridden on them... until yesterday. super fun.

- mountains and water and sunsets, oh my.

- i had two lovely emails from former wedding clients to come home to. they blessed and encouraged me hugely through their generosity.

CONS: (grrr)
- i've spent a good part of the past few weeks building a website. blood, sweat, tears. okay maybe all three of those would be exaggerations- but i've worked so hard on it, finished and submitted the site last friday.... and it's still not live. :( meh. i feel as though this will be such an amazing tool for my business, as this blog site is great, but it's definitely less formal than an actual website and (coughcough) i'm not great at always keeping it up-to-date. anyhow. i am REALLY excited to show everyone this site and just want it to be up and going already!

patience is a virtue... i guess. :)

website: coming SOON.

my little favorite

so. i have been remiss. (is that the correct way to use that word? it's not often i use "remiss" in a sentence. :))

a few months back, i hired a wonderful artist and friend to create a logo for my business which you see at the top of this page, and if you ask me for a business card at some point in the future, you'd see it there, too. her name is lisa and she too is located out of portland, oregon. her sense of style is whimsical and fun and the designs she came up with for me were all so creative and wonderful, i had a hard time picking just one! however, since, orange is definitely my favorite, i picked the one you see above and called it a night. :)

visit her etsy shop- my little buffalo. buy her things. support creative, amazing-hearted people who wear plaid coats, like the one below.

leanne + matt (sneak peek)

any other night owls out there?

it's almost midnight here, and everytime i'm up late i do the math. 12am here means it's 3am on the east coast, where i used to live and where so many people i love still reside. so, technically, in my old life, this would definitely be smack-dab in the middle of the night.

sometimes when i am SO tired (like right now!), i can't sleep. it sounds crazy for sure :) but it's pretty true. instead of being completely non-productive, i thought i'd share a few photos from yesterday's wedding as a little sneak peek.

leanne and matt are a wonderful, beautiful couple- inside and out (as cliche as that sounds- it's true!). i was super blessed by them and yesterday it was a privilege to be present for the start of this amazing join venture they're embarking on together. :) marriage (in the best sense) is a partnership, and i have every confidence that leanne and matt have such a solid foundation for the start of their lives as a single partnership. so exciting.

here are a few photos from their wedding yesterday. a full blog post is on its way very soon!
