little people

happy superbowl sunday! as i type, the steelers are whooping some cardinal behind, and i have to admit i'm okay with that as part of my undergraduate degree was done right outside of pittsburgh. i definitely have some good memories linked to that town. :) i've never really been into sports, but when it comes to the superbowl i figure i can be happy and enthusiastic about one event a year where good food and fun commercials are usually involved. ;) however, as you might've noticed already, my attention isn't only on the game... i figure why not multitask and do a little work with my once-a-year sporting event in the background!? sounds good to me. :)

i'm noticing that all my most recent shoots have somehow involved babies. :) this is not the biggest season for photography in the northeast (brrrr, too cold to schedule outdoor shoots and not really the most popular season for weddings, either) so the trend is even more noticeable. the photos in today's post were so much fun as taylor just had her baby girl piper six weeks prior to the shoot, and christine and shaun are anxiously waiting the arrival of their own baby girl which should be about 6 weeks away. everyone involved in these shoots was a great sport and as always, one of my favorite things about these opportunities is getting to know people and hearing their stories. for me, it's such a privilege. :)

check out these great pregnancy (christine + shaun) and family (taylor + piper) shots, all featuring the littlest members of their families:

heather, chris, and baby grace (almost :))

this past week i was in mississippi, for personal reasons. good friends of mine are about to have a baby, and my friend heather and i wanted to do one last get-together before grace shows up. being in the great weather (sunny and 75 the first two days i was there!) and around such good friends was so refreshing. near the end of my long weekend, we did a quick maternity session at thier house just to have this time in their lives captured with images.

chris is ghetto fabulous! ;) yeah, these guys have a great sense of humor...

even though they're only in their late twenties, heather and chris have been together for 13 years. they have such an amazing family already!

at 34 weeks pregnant, baby grace is almost here. :) i can't wait to meet their precious little girl!

portland surprise (part two)

sigh. okay. so i've been a bad blogger as of late. a bad blogger but a busy photographer! LOTS of editing/shoots/bookings for spring and summer. this is wonderful and i'm definitely not complaining, but in terms of priorities i'm afraid this blog oftentimes gets a wee bit neglected. :) i'll try to do better.

speaking of bookings, if you're reading this and at all interested in a spring/early summer family or lifestyle shoot, please shoot me an email! as strange as it sounds (only being january at this time...) i'm booking dates as far in advance as june right now. the slots are filling up! so let me know what works for you and i'll do my best to accommodate what you're looking for. :)

here are the rest of the photos from my portland trip. i must confess; there's a lot of my trip that wasn't captured in pictures. i was too busy and having too much fun to remember my camera! :) so this is just a small sampling of the things i saw and the people i love in that town.

... oh, how i love this town. :)

portland surprise (part one)

last post of 2008!

2009... i'm ready. very excited to see the changes that may come in the next year, and also on a personal note, 2008 was much better than 2007, and i believe the real good stuff is just around the corner... so i can't wait. :)

in the meantime, enjoy a mishmash of photos i took while in portland, oregon from dec. 4-16th. i was so insanely busy during my trip and had such an amazing time. for sure, i left my heart in the pacific northwest and want to go back as soon as i can.

enjoy this sampling of business and personal shots from my time out west.

ah-HA!

so, if you're a bit of a perfectionist (as i am :)) you may have noticed that the photos i've been posting lately have had sort of a tweaky feel. tweaky as in: the right side of the photos are completely cut off in my blog. oh, the aggravation!!! i've been trying to figure out what the heck is going on but with no success until JUST NOW. :D woo hoo. okay, so from the photo below you can see my friend jess at the deschutes brewery in portland, oregon where i was most of the early part of december. i have loads and heaps of photos to show you from my time in oregon, but this will have to do for now as christmastime and every detail surrounding the season is keeping me incredibly busy.

jess, as you can see, is incredibly beautiful. but what you may not know about her just from looking at this photograph is also that she is an extremely talented photographer. one of my personal favorites, in fact. she's currently based out of seattle, wa but might be moving to nashville, tn at some point in '09. please check out her website at jessica-valle.com and hire her. you should. really.

wherever you go, there you are

currently on the other side of the country in portland oregon, the place where i lived for almost two years. one of the best cities on earth- believe it. :) anyway, i'm technically vacationing but have had two shoots in the past three days, with evidence of those to come soon. due to the business of trying to visit everyone i love in this town, i'll probably be MIA for a little while before heading back to new york in about a week, but know i'll be shooting up a storm with proof to show you coming soon. :)
