my lovely assistant

meet leah.

oh my, so serious. let's try this again:

yes, that's more like it. ;)

if you see her around, she might be doing something like this:

because on any of the east coast weddings i shoot, leah is my right-hand 2nd camera woman. a talented and artistic woman in her own right, i am PRIVILEGED to have her join me on all the weddings i have booked for 2009 in new york state.

sometimes i make her pose like this:

but not TOO often otherwise i'll get some kind of crazy, ridiculous, "am i done with this yet?!" kind of face that i COULD post here... but she'd probably kill me. ;) instead, i'll end this blog entry with a shot that looks pretty normal... don't let it fool you. :) HA. no, seriously, she's amazing and brilliant and i love her to pieces. you will, too.

(it's personal), vol. 3

in the last couple of days, i got a few new toys. :) a new camera body and new lens, to be more specific. the little nerd in me came to life when i saw that big brown box from b&h photo (where i order almost all of my equipment...) and although i've been working my day job and it's freezing as all get out once i'm thru at 5pm, i have not been able to help myself and have had to test it out a bit. beautiful results. b-e-a-utiful. i can't wait for the upcoming family shoots, senior portraits, and weddings i have in the next 4 months! gotta put this baby to work and see what she can do. :)

anyway.

here are a few of my test shots. testing, testing, 1-2-3.

this amazing piece of art was a gift i received this past valentine's day... it needs to go on my wall, asap.

ok. my mom and dad have been married 30 years this coming september and they're still crazy about each other after all this time. amazing.

kitty is awfully good at the evil eye. :)

lasty, my face. haha. when i first got the camera no one was around to model for me so i decided i had to do it myself. :)

first family shoot on my new camera: this coming saturday! i can not wait.

hannah + sean (engagement)

hannah and sean are getting hitched- soon. really soon. like 61 days following this shoot kind of soon. :) however, this was four years in the making, after they first met while in high school working together at a fast food restaurant.

i absolutely love hearing different stories of how couples end up together- many times it's the craziest, most unlikely circumstances that bring the right person into your life. thank goodness for these pleasant suprises we can not make happen on our own!

anyway, enough words. here are a sampling out of the many great shots we were able to get this past saturday at the empire state plaza in albany, ny.

congratulations and blessings as you two move forward in your life together! :)

neeeeew york cit-ay

spent a couple of days in NYC this past week- a nice change of pace from the quiet suburbs! here's my fave shot from those couple of days:

must say, i've never met a bridge i didn't like. :)

amy + eli (wedding)

so, as i've already stated, i can be a slacker when it comes to updating this blog. :) seeing as amy and eli got married... um... the weekend after thanksgiving (ha!) i figured it's about time i posted a few more photos because it was a beautiful wedding and such a great day!

first off, remember seeing them in earlier posts? (this shot is from their engagement session earlier in the year):

they are sweet, amazing, fun, and ridiculously thoughtful people. everything about their wedding day was stress-free and nothing could shake them- they were just so excited to get married and to share the day with all the people in their lives!

natalie was a beautiful maid of honor and did a great job at being amy's right-hand woman throughout the day.

the bride and groom had the great idea of taking a group shot... with EVERYONE who happened to be at their wedding. this is a crop of that photo with all 150+ attendees in the photo, and even still the effect is great- unique idea, guys!

father-daughter dance... always a special memory.

yet another gorgeous photo of these two... their love for each other, strong faith, and love for others came out all throughout the day and it was probably one of the best weddings i've seen- because of their attitude and mindset! blessings, guys. thanks for letting me share in your day.

little people

happy superbowl sunday! as i type, the steelers are whooping some cardinal behind, and i have to admit i'm okay with that as part of my undergraduate degree was done right outside of pittsburgh. i definitely have some good memories linked to that town. :) i've never really been into sports, but when it comes to the superbowl i figure i can be happy and enthusiastic about one event a year where good food and fun commercials are usually involved. ;) however, as you might've noticed already, my attention isn't only on the game... i figure why not multitask and do a little work with my once-a-year sporting event in the background!? sounds good to me. :)

i'm noticing that all my most recent shoots have somehow involved babies. :) this is not the biggest season for photography in the northeast (brrrr, too cold to schedule outdoor shoots and not really the most popular season for weddings, either) so the trend is even more noticeable. the photos in today's post were so much fun as taylor just had her baby girl piper six weeks prior to the shoot, and christine and shaun are anxiously waiting the arrival of their own baby girl which should be about 6 weeks away. everyone involved in these shoots was a great sport and as always, one of my favorite things about these opportunities is getting to know people and hearing their stories. for me, it's such a privilege. :)

check out these great pregnancy (christine + shaun) and family (taylor + piper) shots, all featuring the littlest members of their families:
